Dairy Cattle Judging 3:30 p.m.
Rules/Guidelines:
1. Competition is open to bona fide 4-H members in grades 4-7 as
of January 1, 2008.
2. Each contest will consist of two divisions: Junior (grades
5 and 6 on the date of the contest) and Jr. High (grades 7 and 8
on the date of the contest). Dairy Cattle Judging will also
include the Senior High Division (grades on the date of the
contest).
*Due to the availability of cattle, the Dairy Cattle Judging
Contest will begin at 3:30 p.m.
3. Teams will consist of three or four members. If a team
consists of four members, the lowest score will be dropped.
There is no limit on the number of teams per county.
4. Contests will be held in the following categories:
- Life Skills (comprehensive team) Judging
- Dairy Cattle Judging
- Meat Judging
- Plant and Seed Identification
- Wildlife Judging
- Forestry Judging (Tree Identification)
- Contests will be modified to make the best use of the
facilities and resources available at the Fairgrounds.
5. The following awards will be made in each of the above
judging events:
JUNIOR DIVISION
First high scoring team $40
Second high scoring team $30
Third high scoring team $20
JR. HIGH DIVISION
First high scoring team $40
Second high scoring team $30

Entry Time: Thursday, September 4, 1:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Except culinary, horticulture, fruit & vegetables which are to
be entered Monday, September 8, 1:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
GENERAL RULES
1. All youth through age 19 may participate.
2 Exhibits must be property of youth entering and produced by
the youth since September, 2007.
3. No entry fee will be charged.
4. Exhibitor may enter one exhibit in each lot.
5. All canning exhibits must be in standard jars (1/2 pints,
quarts and standard jelly jars). Items not in standard jars will
be disqualified.
6. All paintings and drawings must be framed and wired, ready
for hanging.
7. Exhibits must be picked up Monday, September 15, 4:00 p.m. -
6:00 p.m.
8. Each participant will receive a ribbon and prize money will
be: First place $3.00; second place $2.00; third place $1.00.
9. A best of show ribbon will be awarded in the craft, culinary
and clothing classes.
10. A theme award will be presented to deserving exhibits in any
category.
11. Baking items should be entered on paper plates in zip-lock
bags. Bread items should be 1/2 large loaf or 1 mini loaf;
cakes-1/2 cake except decorated cakes, whole pies.
12. If a youth would like to enter an item in which there is not
a class in the Youth and 4-H Department, then it may be entered
in the adult section.
13. ALL ENTRIES IN CANNING, CULINARY, CRAFTS AND CLOTHING MUST
BE MADE SOLELY BY THE PERSON ENTERING THE ITEM.

1. Fair participant must enter at least seven items in lots
listed under breads, cakes, candy, cookies and/or pies.
2. Winner will be determined by the following point system:
FIRST PLACE award - 8 points; SECOND PLACE award - 4 points;
THIRD PLACE award - 2 points.
3. Winner will be announced during Fair Week. Prize to be
announced later.
4. This award is open to Madison County 4-Hers only.
5. Persons who have won a total of two years will be retired as
Clover Kitchen Supreme. They will not be allowed to compete for
this award, but may continue to enter exhibits for ribbons and
premium money.
