Livestock Health Requirements for Fairs and Exhibitions

- ENTRY FORMS

I. GENERAL
A. All stalls, pens, chutes, etc. located on the ground of fairs and exhibitions shall be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected with a disinfectant approved by USDA, APHIS between
each scheduled fair or exhibition.
B. All livestock (except poultry) which enter fairs and exhibitions shall be accompanied by an official veterinary health certificate with individual permanent identification of sufficient description to identify each animal. Certificates for this purpose shall be valid for ninety (90) days from date of issue. (Tennessee livestock only - Out of state certificates are valid for thirty (30) days from the date of issue)
C. No animal showing clinical signs of infectious or communicable disease shall be allowed to enter or remain on premises of fairs and exhibitions. It shall be the responsibility of the manager of each event to assure prompt removal of such animals.

II. LIVESTOCK AND POULTRY ORIGINATING WITHIN THE STATE OF TENNESSEE
(Certificates of Veterinary Inspection Valid for a Period of ninety (90) Days)
A. CATTLE: All cattle which enter fairs and exhibitions shall be accompanied by an official veterinary health certificate with individual permanent identification or sufficient description to identify each animal.
B. SHEEP: (1) All sheep imported into or through Tennessee shall be accompanied by an official health certificate and be in compliance with 0080-2-1-.02 and Title 9, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 79.1 through 79.4
(2) All sheep that move within the state, with the exception of wethers under the age of 18 months that are produced for slaughter only, including for change of ownership, shows, fairs, expositions or slaughter shall be permanently, individually identified by a method approved in Title 9, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 79.1 through 79.4
C. GOATS: (1) All goats imported into or through Tennessee shall be accompanied by an official health certificate and be in compliance with 0080-2-1-.02 and Title 9, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 79.1 through 79.4
(2) All registered breeding goats, goats that have been commingled with sheep, goats for exhibition and dairy goats that move within the state, including for change of ownership, shows, fairs, expositions or slaughter shall be permanently, individually identified by a method approved in Title 9, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 79.1 through 79.4

III. LIVESTOCK AND POULTRY ORIGINATING OUTSIDE THE STATE OF TENNESSEE
Livestock and poultry entering fairs and exhibitions from areas outside the State of Tennessee shall be subject to current Tennessee import requirements. Please contact the state veterinarian's office regarding questions or recent changes to these rules. These interstate requirements are summarized as follows:
A. ALL SPECIES (except poultry):
Official Certificate of Veterinary Inspection valid for thirty (30) days.
B. CATTLE:
Certificate of Veterinary Inspection and additional requirements as follows:
(1) Tuberculosis: No requirements. Owners of Michigan, Minnesota, New Mexico and California origin cattle should contact the state veterinarian’s office for further information.
(2) Brucellosis: Test eligible cattle - intact male or female cattle eighteen (18) months or older. (Vaccinates and non- vaccinates).
Certified Herds - No test requirements.
Class Free States - No test requirements.
Class A - Negative test within 30 days.
C. SHEEP: See rule B above.
D. GOATS: See rule C above.

IV. Fair Association or exhibition or management shall inform exhibitors of the rules of this chapter, and shall notify the State Veterinarian or his agent of any violations. Exhibitors shall present evidence of compliance with this chapter to the State Veterinarian or his agent upon request.

These rules constitute a minimum legal standard and in no way restrict
the right of fair and exhibition managers to establish additional or
more stringent requirements.

Wednesday September 14, 2011 at 4:00pm

Market lambs must be on the grounds by 3:00 pm Wednesday and weighed between 3:00 and 4:00 pm.

1. Entries must be submitted by Sept. 1, 2011 to West Tn. State Fair, P.O Box 1404, Jackson, TN. 38305. Entry forms are online at (www.wstfair.com) and may be mailed or emailed to hwatson@usit.net.
2. Lambs must be accompanied by an official certificate of veterinary inspection.
3. Only Junior exhibitors will be allowed to enter. Lambs must be owned by the exhibitor prior to August 1, 2011.
4. An exhibitor may show no more than (4) lambs in the show.
5. All lambs must have lamb teeth and must be a wether or a ewe lamb.
6. There will be no minimum or maximum weight to be eligible for the show.
7. Lambs will be weighed and divided into classes by eight. There will be no more than 10 animals in a class.
8. There will not be a sale in conjunction with the show.
9. Three showmanship classes will be offered: Junior, Junior High and Senior.
10. Bedding will be furnished.
11. Commercial Ewes will be shown in the Market Lamb show and will be divided into the classes by weight.
12. Gate passes are $6.00 and there will be gate attendants checking passes.

Wednesday September 14, 2011 immediately following the Market Lamb show (6:30pm)

Breed 01 - Hampshire, Breed 02 - Suffolk, Breed 03 - Dorset, Breed 04 - Southdown, Breed 05 - Other breeds wool, Breed 06 - Other breeds meat

1. Entries must be submitted by Sept. 1, 2011 to West Tn. State Fair, P.O. Box 1404, Jackson, TN. 38305. Entry forms are online at (www.wtsfair.com) and may be mailed or emailed to: hwatson@usit.net.
2. Sheep must be accompanied by an official certificate of veterinary inspection.
3. Sheep must be on grounds by 3:00 pm, gate passes are $6.00 and will be checked, entries will be taken Online and upon arrival.
4. Only Junior exhibitors will be allowed to enter and show.
5. The show is open to registered Ewes and Rams.
6. Ewes shown in market classes or the commercial ewe show are not eligible for the breeding show.
7. Premiums will be paid on the Danish system.
8. Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion - Rosettes
9. Five showmanship classes will be offered:
A. Pre 4-H
B. Junior 5 & 6 grades
D. Senior Level 1 9 & 10 grades
E. Senior Level 2 11 & 12 grades

Thursday September 15, 2011 at 6:00pm

1. Entries must be submitted by Sept. 1, 2011 to West Tn. State Fair, P.O Box 1404, Jackson, TN. 38305. Entry forms are online at (www.wtsfair.com) and may be mailed or emailed to hwatson@usit.net.
2. Gate passes are $6.00 and will be checked at the gate.
3. All animals must be in compliance with TN scrapie rules. All slaughter and market animals must have a permanent scrapie tag in their ear. Each animal must have a permanent ID in addition to the scrapie tag (ear tag, tattoo, no tags on collars).
4. All market animals must have all milk teeth in place at weigh-in or they will not show.
5. You must show in either the Market show or the Doe show and not both.
6. Market animals will be weighed and divided into classes based on that weight.

Market Classes
1. Light weight
2. Middle weight
3. Heavy weight

6. Registration papers are required on all registered animals.
7. If they are not registered then they will be aged by their teeth. All milk teeth = Doe kid, Two teeth = Yearling, 4 or more = Aged
8. It will be the officials’ discretion to place them accordingly.
9. No bucks allowed on grounds.
10. There are no pens so be prepared to tie your goats during the show.
11. Bedding will be furnished.

DOE CLASSES
1. Doe kids 0-6 mos.
2. Doe kids 6-12 mos.
3. Yearlings 12-18 mos.
4. Yearlings 18-24 mos.
5. Aged Does 24 mos. and older
6. Grand Champion
7. Reserve Grand Champion

Friday September 16, 2011 at 5:00pm

1. Entries must be submitted by Sept. 1, 2011 to West Tn. State Fair, P.O Box 1404, Jackson, TN. 38305. Entry forms are online at (www.wtsfair.com) and may be mailed or emailed to hwatson@usit.net.
2. Entry fees will be $10.00 a head and Exhibitor passes will be $6.00 ea. and must accompany the entries.
3. Bedding will be furnished.
4. No one exhibitor will be awarded more than two prizes in any one class.
5. Registration and health papers will be required and tattoos may be checked by the show committee.
6. All animals must be in place by 3:00 pm Friday Sept, 16 and will be released after the show. Any late arrivals must be approved by the show committee.
7. All exhibitors will adhere to the Animal Disease Control Rules and Regulations of the TN Dept. of Agriculture.
8. Pre-entered cattle will be reserved stall spaces by the committee. If you do not pre-enter you will take what is left.
9. It is required that all Bulls be tied with a neck rope and have nose rings.
10. Tie outs will be after the show is over.
11. To have a separate breed show you must have:
1. Must have a minimum of 10 head.
2. Must be represented by two (2) separate exhibitors.

1. Juniors eligible are from 7 years old as of Jan. 1, 2011 to their 21st birthday as of Jan. 1, 2011.
2. Entries must be submitted by Sept. 1, 2011 to West Tn. State Fair, P.O Box 1404, Jackson, TN. 38305. Entry forms are online at (www.wtsfair.com) and may be mailed or emailed to hwatson@usit.net.
3. Entry fees are $10.00 a head and Exhibitor passes are $6.00 each and must accompany the entries. There will be someone on the gates checking passes.
4. Bedding will be furnished.
5. All cattle are to be in place by 9:00 am and check-in will begin at 10:00 am. and will be released after the show is concluded.
6. All animals must be shown by the owner unless injury or sickness prevents him/her from doing so or unless given permission by the management.
7. Registration papers, lease agreements and health papers will be required and tattoos may be checked by the show committee
8. Each exhibitor is limited to only two entries per age class.
9. No heifer may be exhibited in competition that cannot be properly managed in the show ring by the owner.
10. Pre-entered cattle will have reserved stall spaces by the committee. If you do not pre-enter you will take what is left.
11. To have a separate breed show you must have:

2. Must be represented by two separate exhibitors.
12. The Showmanship division will be determined by the exhibitor’s age and there will be 4 divisions of showmanship which is to be determined after everyone is entered.
